Feed Maps

v1.01 Release : 17 August, 2008

Feed Maps - a new API available from Map Channels. Use Feed Maps to easily add a map containing one or more feeds to your website.

KML, GeoRSS, Tab-delimited text and Google Spreadsheet formats are supported.

Options include: Google Earth, Street View, Traffic, Directions, Hotel Search, Name Filters, Description Filters, Visibility Filters, Paging.

Feed Maps are free to use under an Apache License.

Feed Maps contain a separate file of text strings which can easily be translated to present your map using a language other than English.

Thanks to Soren Johannessen for the first translation of Feed Maps into another language. Soren has used Feed Maps to create this excellent map of Copenhagen Music which combines custom icons, Google Spreadsheets and YouTube video. The map was featured recently on Google Maps Mania.

The Street/Map control - a compact control to embed a street view and map into any web page. A number of customization options are available.

Dual Maps version 2

Dual Maps - Combine Google Maps with Microsoft Virtual Earth Maps. Dual Maps let you compare imagery between the map APIs, use the Virtual Earth bird's eye view and the Google Street View.

Dual Maps version 2 features a number of improvements for the display of Google Street Views. Street Views are now displayed in a separate pane above the Google map. A vehicle marker and 'Field of View' overlay tracks your current location on both maps as you move through the Street View panorama.

Map Channels - Embed, Share and Customize Your Maps

Map Channels is a service that lets you embed a custom map into your website or blog without the need for coding.

An extensive range of options let you tailor your map's appearance to your own needs. Options include a place index sidebar and a tools sidebar. Tools available include slide show, map filters, multiple map channels, location links and search channels. Marker tooltips, clickable polygons and lines are standard features.

All the features of the Latest Map Channels map displayed below are available for map channels you create.

The service is free. You can use the map scripts generated by this site for both commercial and non-commercial use.
